Crown Lengthening
As part of the beatification process, a person can also have a procedure called as Crown Lengthening, which has the gums and the gum line trimmed and adjusted to show more of the patients teeth making their smile more appealing. Some people have excessive gums that hide teeth and coupled with teeth restoration procedures, the gums can be set back a little to show of more of the pearly whites. This is considered to be purely cosmetic but has implications if the person has suffered gum disease leaving them odd and deformed. The procedure is done in-clinic by a periodontist or a dentist who specializes in reconstructive or cosmetic dental care.
